This is not a tie.

Artist Statement: BRAND NEW FOR '09: French: Ceci n'est pas une cravate. English translation: This is not a tie. Original illustration, hand-drawn text converted to a screenprint.

Inspired be René Magritte's Dadaist masterpiece, "The Treachery of Images" (La trahison des images). "This is not a Pipe" is painted of course, adjacent to a...pipe. Impress art historians and Francophones with your language skills and clever accessorization! Celebrate the absurd.

Shown in foreground: bronze ink on mustard gold; bronze on celery, bronze on khaki.

The tie is made of a soft microfiber, having almost the same hand as real silk and is printed with high-quality, non-toxic, waterbased ink. The standard tie is 3.75" wide at it's widest point and 58" long - standard length and width. All new materials!

Twilight Picnic Earrings

Artist Statement: The dangles of these earrings are tiny patches of seed beads that I wove into a symmetric diamond pattern that reminds me a bit of a god's eye. This particular weave fits nice and tight so that the beadwork remain stiff and does not sag as flat beadwork can sometimes do. Each earring is accented with a purple cubic zirconia for just a touch of sparkle.

I forged the ear wires from argentium sterling silver wire. The argentium alloy slows the tarnishing time of the silver.

These are little earrings that are very light.
Diamond is 17mm at its widest point.
Length of earrings from top of ear wire is 37mm.

All of my jewelry arrives in an origami gift box, hand folded by me out of beautiful printed card stock.

For more information about these earrings, see the Night Sky Weave at

Let's Talk Pendant/Brooch

It could be customized as a Pin or a Pendant per your selection. Please, let us know in the “message to the seller” when you buy. The illustration is glazed on wood. The border and back are painted and distressed to give it kind of a vintage feeling.

Signed and Titled on the back.
Measurements: 1 ¼”, 1 ½”, 3/16”

Picture shown is an actual picture of the item. We try to do our best with photos but color might be slightly different in reality. A common commentary is: “Nicer in person that in the picture!”

Artist Statement: Simple but with the stunning lavender sparkle of cubic zirconia

Cubic zirconia is a laboratory grown, diamond-like material rich in color and brilliance. The many facets create spectacular sparkle.

This pair of beads ( 9x9mm – 6mm depth ) are square-cut and top-drilled and hanged from a handmade stick type earring ( 42mm long and its widest dimension is 3mm ), at a diagonal.

A round sterling silver wave brushed button is attached on the upper point of the cz bead creating a neat contrast to square shape of cz.

The total length is 57mm ( 2.25 inches ).

The Return of Innocense

Artist Statement: This is a piece I started sketching on as my contribution to The Wire Artisans Guild challenge ART NOUVEAU. But somewhere along the way it travelled in time and ended up more as an EDWARDIAN piece.

Even if it doesn´t fit as an entry for the challenge, I like it a lot. So swirly, and intricate.

This piece is so feminine, in a way women strived to achive in the past millenium, so what name could be better than the title of the old ENIGMA song RETURN OF THE INNOCENSE.

Several other artists work with a mesh background and here is my version wich gives a new look to the scrolls and swirls I often include. One is wonderful Sheela from, and Joanna Watracz (soon to have an Etsy shop:

If you want to read more about this piece and see pictures with it non-oxidized just visit my blog:

Artist Statement: The second in a sub-series. My usual construction: 18 gauge sterling silver over 18 gauge copper over a 16 gauge steel chassis. Riveted through with copper rivets on the perimeter, and sterling rivets on the interior. Each buckle made to order. Standard size is about 4 x 3 inches, with a smaller size (3 1/2 x 2 3/8) also available. Check out my other stuff to gain the full scope of my work, and to learn about my options.

Pirate School Desk

Artist Statement: Got a pirate in your life? Know a child with an active imagination? This desk is my latest creation. I took an antique school desk and breathed new life into it. Since I'm on a pirate frenzy lately I decided to just go with it. I put a pirate ship on the seat of the desk with the dark seas behind it. On the back slats I put, "Pirate Property" and "Keep Out" with two pirate swords adorning the back. The best part is the writing portion of this desk. I took a pirate map and aged it using secret concoctions and added a compass (of course), an eye patch, the steering wheel and a hardwood floor background. A lot of work went into this piece and I am so proud of this desk. Will definitely stay in the family for years to come. A definite conversation starter and guaranteed-you will be the only one with this swanky desk!

I polyurethaned this desk three times so it will withstand lots of bangs and bruises throughout the years. I've been painting for over 12 years and my work has been in catalogs and local shops! Please contact me for a shipping quote.

Migration Shift

Artist Statement: This dress is made of cotton, and is cut in a 60's shift style. On the front panel there are three stuffed applique birds flying from the bottom to the top. The neck, shoulders, arm holes, and hemline are also stuffed to add structure to the dress. This dress is made to order and is available in grey. It comes in sizes S/M(4-6), and M/L(8-10). This dress has two front pockets, and definitely has a sci-fi feel to it. Very fun to wear!

If I had a right nut, I'd bite it off and give it in exchange for one of these in plus size. Love that 60s style of 'future wear'!!

Gingko Leaf Ring

Flock of Pigeons

Artist Statement: These flying pigeons can be hung by little loops on their backs. Each bird, made of black metallic wire, is approximately 10" long and the wingspan is about 15" wide. You can purcase one or more to make your own flock. These are sold individually for $58 each, so you can have just one or have more than one to make your own flock.

These are special order items, meaning that if you order this item I will be making one just for you. Depending on quantity and other orders, this can take from three days up to two weeks. Please email me for a time quote. Signed with an SG wound into the wire-for Susan Graham.

These wire sculptures are individually handmade, each one treated as a drawing done in three dimensions. The line of the wire is kept continuous for as long as possible within one sculpture to give both openness and stability to the form. Special attention is paid to pattern, gesture, and how the character and the specific qualities of each creature are best expressed.

Sculptures can be custom made to fit requests for particular animals, species of animals, sizes, or types of wire used.

No two works are exactly alike due to the intuitive sculpting process, and each piece is signed with the artist's initials interwoven with the wire.

Artist Statement: A beautiful shabby chic sky blue and pink rose cameo, measuring 25x18mm, set in a gold scalloped ring setting. this ring is adjustable, fits any size.

maneki neko

Artist Statement: With one raised paw, this little cat beckons good fortune and prosperity to you. The Maneki Neko (literally "beckoning cat") is one of the most common lucky charms in Japan. Found frequently in shop windows, the Maneki Neko sits with its paw raised and bent, as if beckoning customers to enter. This good luck kitty wears the Japanese kanji for fortune on his belly. A great gift for anyone who needs a little extra luck in business - don't we all;)

This archival print measures 4" x 5" with white space around it for framing and signature. It will look perfect in a frame for a 4x6 image.

Each limited edition print is stamped and signed.

Please note that the artist retains copyright, and the image may not be used or reproduced without permission.

All of my illustrations can be made into mini prints and I can also customize them with a name or a phrase of your choice. Convo me with any queries.

Bonsai Tree Stoneware Vase

Artist Statement: Much of my most recent work includes sculptural imagery taken from the Japanese art of Bonsai. There are traditional rules, but countless variations in the way a Bonsai artist will shape the life and death balance present in each tree over time. This piece has been inspired by an actual Bonsai of the Informal Slanting Style, and stands 19 inches tall by 11 inches wide.

The piece has been entirely handbuilt with stoneware clay. The tree's image is drawn directly onto the clay, and major forms (trunk, limbs) are pushed out dimensionally from the interior, while the clay is still semi-moist. Details and edges of forms are carved into the surface, or pressed into the clay with various found or handmade textural objects. The entire piece is coated with a number of colored clay slips (essentially painting onto clay with liquid clay), and finished with a black slip. The final surface of the trunk and limbs is achieved by scrubbing through layers of slip with a damp, fine natural sponge.

The process described above is illustrated in the 4 accompanying photos. After the initial firing, black underglaze is rubbed into the foliage areas, the interior is coated with traditional glaze, and the piece is fired for a second time.

Sprouts on Sky Blue

Artist Statement: A hand made cabochon of custom mixed polymer clay features an imprinted image of cute little sprouts.

The polymer clay cab measures 3/4" long by 1/2" wide and has been mixed, rolled, cut, stamped, baked, sanded, buffed, coated in a glossy resin and adhered to an adjustable, silver plated ring base.

The ring band accommodates adult sizes 5 through 9.

Blue Bird Bowl

Artist Statement: I love the texture and pattern on the surface of this little bird. I pressed vintage lace into the clay whilst it was still soft, and this has created very intricate pattern which I emphasized by adding pale blue glaze to the imprints.

The underside is unglazed with a little fabric texture.
There are many uses for the little blue bird. Keep it by your bed to keep earrings safe, use it as a little soap dish or put a little candle in it at night.
The colour and texture inside are so pretty you might decide to keep it empty for decoration.

It measures approx 3.5 x 4 inches and is 1.25 inches tall.
(9 x 10 x 3cm)

Please note, this item is not recommended for dishwasher use.
I made a couple of these, so the one you receive may vary very slightly from the one pictured.

Five Leaf Branch

Artist Statement: This lovely cutout pendant is made of sterling silver and has a brushed satin finish. It measures about 6/8" in length and 5/8" in width (about the size of a quarter). It dangles elegantly from a 16" sterling silver snake necklace.

Each piece is made individually, pierced, cut and finished by hand, so the design may differ *ever-so-slightly* from the one in the photograph.

Knitted Rat Dissection

Artist Statement: I finally found a supplier of aluminum dissection trays with the black wax in the bottom - w00t! (They are brand new, trays - don't worry!)

3 out of 4 biologists agree: Knitted Lab Rat is the cuddliest biology project, ever! If you think so too, then this, my friend, is the art object for you.

Wow your scientist friends and colleagues with the coolness of this piece of knitted art. The rat is hand knit from an acrylic mohair blend, and his little innards are needle-felted by hand out of 100% wool. He comes pinned into his actual dissection tray, but he is not glued down, so you can take him out and cuddle him if you wish.

Illusions of Blue

Artist Statement: Temari is the ancient Japanese folk art of silk embroidered thread balls, originally made by noble women with silken threads pulled from old kimonos. Used originally for child's play, today the art of temari is becoming more popular around the world. I hand-wrap each temari ball first with yarn, then thread, then stitch with silky cotton embroidery thread. The unique band around the center of this temari is called an "obi" after the sash worn around the waist of traditional Japanese kimonos!

This temari is approximately 3 inches in diameter, wrapped in jet black thread with interwoven three dimensional-looking bands of blue embroidery threads, and accented with deep purple thread. This one is mesmerizing with its illusion of depth and dimension. Stunning and beautiful to display anywhere!

Please note: I can attach a hanging thread if you desire one, otherwise this is a unique art piece to display on a candle holder, tucked in a basket, or with a group of other temari.

Temari is shipped first class in a unique gift basket along with a brief history of temari.

Alice isn't getting any tea earrings

Alice Isn't Getting Any Tea Earrings by Persephone Plus

Artist Statement: These are a Very Limited Edition - only a few pair will be made.

Check out the beautiful teapot charms that hang from these classic Victorian illustrations of a rather pouty Alice and a bemused and not very sane Hatter.

Kinda Wonderful. Two inches long.

I can definitely vouch for the workmanship of this vendor, I have the pirate queen earrings - they're stunning and get comments whenever I wear them.

Nightfall Necklace

Artist Statement: I designed this necklace to evoke a darker "Tim Burton-esque" type mood. It's very different from my other work but still has an organic quality to it. This piece is handmade from sterling silver and measures about 1" square. The silver is oxidized black and then the surface is brushed back to silver. I left the background black to give the piece depth and accentuate the silver wires. The chain is also sterling silver and has been oxidized jet black.

The necklace shown is 16" long... longer chains available upon request.

For the Birds

Artist statement: A wonderful expression of colour and form.

A celebration of life and happiness...

This necklace is an original design made of all handmade lampwork beads by Amy Johnson. When you stand back you first notice the unusual repeated forms of the beads and the colours... then as you get closer you see all the little details of the birds.

The toggle catch on this necklace is made of a little twig bead.

Necklace is strung on 49 strand nylon coated wire and is quite durable.

Made upon request (inquire on timing)

vintage rhinestone earrings

Artist Statement: this listing is for a pair of vintage earrings

measuring 1 inch in diameter with clip on closures

rainbow aurora borealis rhinestones and purple navettes are set in silver toned metal

EXCELLENT vintage condition

Steampunk Watch

Artist Statement: This cuff watch is a must-have accessory for every scientist or adventurer. It will tell the time, while reminding you how precious it is. Time does fly.

This is not just a women's cuff, its size and theme makes it suitable for the gentlemen as well.

It features brass and silver plated brass components, Swarovski crystals and pearl, and one working watch face. All components are nickel and lead free. The battery of the watch can be changed in the future by any jeweler in the usual way.
You will receive the watch face shown in the FIRST photo. The last one is just to show you the overall size of the cuff.
The asymmetrical cuff measures 5.5cm (2 inches) tall at its widest point. The inner width is 6.5cm (2.5 inches). Its inner perimeter is 20cms (7.8 inches). It's a relatively large cuff, and even though it's adjustable, I'd suggest you handle it with care, cause of all the complex and fragile gadgets on it. Like all cuffs, the less you adjust it the more it will live, cause of "metal fatigue".

Owl Necklace

Artist Statement: If I were Queen of the Forest, I would wear this necklace and relax in a canopy of leaves. My squirrel friends would scurry up to tell me funny jokes and I would tell moths secrets at night.

A silver vintage Alan owl pendant wears a darling silver filigree crown. Multiple layers of silver chain create a dynamic appeal as they join together with silver rhinestone vintage leaves. The leaves were vintage earrings, and they have been repurposed to twinkle at the delicate part of the body where neck becomes shoulder. The owl's eyes were missing when I found him, so he has been given new ones made of iridescent faceted purple beads.

The length from the crown to the owl is 6 inches (15.2 cm). The necklace length is 20.5 inches (52.1 cm).

Smokey Quartz Earrings

Artist Statement: These luscious light milk chocolate brown smokey quartz briolettes in a twisted spiral shape are step cut for lots of sparkle and reflection. I carefully wire wrapped them in rich 14k goldfill wire and paired with rounded ball earwires to create a gorgeous little pair of earrings you can wear all year long.

The briolettes measure approximately 12.5x7.5mm. The total height of earring is approximately 1 3/8 inches (about 35mm). All metal is 14k goldfill.

This has to be one of my favorite cuts in the gemstone world. It's so sparkly! These are fun and flirty with just the right touch of elegance. They will go with so many different outfits in your wardrobe and be a pair of earrings you reach for often. Enjoy!

Lapis + Silver Necklace

Artist Statement: I recently found this TIBETAN necklace at an Antique bizarre but it was tightly strung with the precious old ornate pendants overlapping.

It did not take me long to tear it apart and create a more contemporary lengthened article of wearable art by adding LAPIS AZULI spacers and BALI SILVER decorative charm beads.

LENGTH: Approx. 20 inches with adjustable chain
PENDANTS: Approx: 2 inches long X 3/4 iches wide

A large decorative silver "S" toggle, lenthening chain, signature bead, and custom accent charm finishes off this “One of a Kind” necklace with South Western influence.

Combining the elements from numerous necklaces into one singular accessory is my goal. This process of recycling fabulous beads, pendants, artifacts, silver, & etc., into a more fashionable piece of jewelry is the essence of my creative focus.

This museum quality necklace can be worn casual with a jean jacket or as a powerful accessory to a business suit…. Perfect for the holidays.

Jewel tank

Artist Statement: Granny squares make this top unique! The silk/wool blend is perfect for autumn. Plenty warm enough for the day and perfect paired with a sweater for evening.

Measured laying flat it's 17 inches seam to seam, and fifteen inches long. I would guess it will fit a bust up to 40 inches. The crocheted fabric stretches quite a bit. I am a size 12 with a 36 inch bust and it is about a size too big for me!

This piece was crocheted by hand in my smoke free home.

Perfect for Pride...

Artist Statement: These earrings feature three colors of thread strung together in perfect harmony.

The threads are the perfect combination of PINK, BLUE, & YELLOW of colors to add a little spunk to any outfit. These earrings are lightweight and the coiled frame is created using Alpaca Sterling. Alpaca Silver is a metal alloy made of copper, nickel, and zinc. Alpaca will not rust or tarnish.

The ear hooks are made of stainless steel or sterling silver.

Reusable Tea Bags

Artist Statement: Love lose leaf tea but hate seeing little flecks of the chamomile flower floating in the top of your tea cup? Want to drink every drop of tea, but don't want the little bits of tea at the bottom? Tried using the one-use nylon bags but found them flimsy and more waste for our environment?

There's a simple solution -- these reusable tea bags! They're made with unbleached loosely woven fabric and cotton cord. Just simply fill them with your tea of choice and let them seep like any other tea bag!

After your tea is done seeping, let the bag cool and dump the leaves over your trash bin, greenery bin, or however you dispose of your teas. Rinse out the bag with warm water and let it drip dry! You can also wait for the bag to dry as much as possible with the tea still inside of it before dumping, but this takes longer. To dry, we fold it over the side of the wire rack that we dry our dishes on. Your bag will be discolored by the tea, since tea is used as a dye, but the bag is still clean.

This listing is for THREE 3 by 3 inch unbleached loosely woven tea bag. See our other listings for one bag and five bags (five bags are at a smaller price.)

These bags were sewn and assembled by Meg, cut and finished by Jeff.

The bags last for about a month with regular daily use.

mayan quetzal bird embroidery

mayan quetzal bird embroidery by modern to retro

Artist Statement: for your consideration.. out of an estate sale of a person who lived for many years in Guatemala...a vintage 60's embroidery from the highlands of Guatemala. Made by the Mayan Indians. The bird depicted is the Quetzal bird with its long colorful tail... the flowers are typical to the region. Comes framed and measures 22" by 11". There is some discoloration spots on the white linen due to age..and the frame is old and should be replaced...still, it is a wonderful example of the typical Mayan artwork and amazing craftmanship. The colors are vibrant. I have one more very similar work which I am putting online too. It is obvious the 2 works were made by the same person.

Octopus Lace Necklace

Artist Statement: Crescent Lace original designs are based on the Japanese style of chain maille weave. Octopus Lace began as a bracelet, so named due to the illusion of an octopus arm winding its way around the bracelet.

Octopus Lace features three sizes of rings in an intricately engineered weave — just the right appearance balanced with the perfect degree of flexibility. The largest rings are 6mm in diameter, and the smallest rings are 3mm.

The necklace features a segment of Octopus Lace — octopus arm — suspended at both ends from silver link chain. The segment of lace is about 3 inches long. With the chain, the necklace is 16 inches long.

Made from sterling silver rings and chain; it closes with a sterling silver lobster clasp.

Look in the shop for the matching Octopus Lace bracelet, pendant and earrings.

The necklace is custom made 16 inches in length, but can be made up to 20 inches. When you purchase this necklace, please let me know the length — either via convo or as a "message to seller” at checkout. If you'd like it longer than 20 inches, this is possible for an additional fee (contact me in advance for details).
